Need A Meeting Room?

The meeting room and teaching kitchen are available for use to the public under the following guidelines: priority will be given to non-profit groups relating to hunger, wellness, nutrition, and related issues. These groups will not be charged. The second priority is for other non-profits, who will be charged a reduced rate. The third category is for other groups who may wish to reserve the room for other events or meetings, subject to approval of the operations and maintenance committee. The facility kitchen is not intended for commercial use. We refer those requests to Riverside Church or Columbia Gorge Community College.

To find out information, to seek availability and price, and to make reservations for the community room of the food bank, please call 541-386-3993 or send an email to  office@hoodriverchurch.com.

About Us

Serving Hood River County since 1969

Except for two half-time employees, FISH is an all volunteer organization.  Different groups of volunteers take turns opening the food bank each week providing groceries to those in need of one-time emergency or occasional food assistance.  Those groups of volunteers include members of churches, fraternal organizations, businesses, schools, and families.  Other volunteers track food donations, stock shelves, pick up donations from local grocery stores, clean the sites, deliver food to shut-ins, and a myriad of other jobs, all done to keep FISH Food Bank operating efficiently and smoothly.

Celebrating over 45 years of Service to our community!

FISH most frequently asked questions:

Historian Volunteer Opportunity:

We were recently given some very old records dating back to the beginning of FISH Food Bank. The Fish Food Bank Committee has decided it would be great to have someone be our historian using these old records.  If you are interested in volunteering to take this on, please contact a Fish representative at fish_hr@gorge.net

Crop Talk at FISH Garden Sept 26th

Susan Randolph, FISH Garden Coordinator asked me to share this event as all are invited to join in the program.

“As part of the Rockford Grange's annual series, the FISH and Spirit of Grace Community Garden is proud to be hosting a "Crop Talk" to showcase all the hard work done by the volunteers this season. Not for farmers-only, this event is free and open to the public and is a great opportunity to learn about small-scale farming and backyard gardening techniques! Bring a food dish, a bottle of wine, your friends and family, and of course, some good walking shoes. We will gather at 5:30 pm, tour the garden and the food bank facility at 6:00 pm, then linger until dark to catch the last rays of the summer sun. Definitely a don't-miss event, the garden has been going through some big transitions this year and we are looking forward to sharing what we've learned.”

If you have any questions, please contact Susan at: surandolph22@gmail.com.

FISH Board Meeting—Change of Date and Time—September 21

Due to several conflicts, the FISH Board Meeting date has been changed to Wednesday, September 21. I believe we will be changing the starting time to 12:00 Noon, but will confirm this when I send out the notice later in the month.

This should be an interesting meeting, as we need to catch everyone up to date on what is happening around the site.

Please join with me to welcome our newest member, Katie Haynie.
